Our Vacuum 1/4-20 x 1/4 inch long vented socket head cap screws (SHCS) are vacuum compatible and made of chemical resistant 18-8 stainless steel . When used as vacuum fasteners within (inside) an evacuated chamber, typical solid shaft (unvented) screws will trap gas in the void space between the screw tip and the bottom of the threaded hole, creating difficult to manage virtual leaks. Our vacuum compatible vented screw fasteners have been drilled through the entire length of their shaft allowing these trapped gases to vent out. These screws are made of moderately chemically resistant 18-8 stainless steel. The are vacuum capatiable with ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) and high vacuum (HV) applications.
